As Machined

As Machined Part

Standard machined parts show minor tool marks. Surface roughness Ra: 3.2 μm (can be reduced to 0.4 μm with extra processing).

  • ✅ Tightest dimensional tolerances
  • ⚠️ Visible tool marks

Bead Blasting

Bead Blasted Part

Creates a matte, satin-like finish by bombarding the surface with glass beads. Best for visual improvement.

  • ✅ Uniform matte look
  • ✅ Low cost
  • ⚠️ May affect dimensions

Anodizing (Type II & III)

Anodized Part

Adds a ceramic oxide layer for corrosion and wear resistance. Can be dyed in various colors.

  • ✅ Decorative colors (Type II)
  • ✅ High hardness & wear resistance (Type III)
  • ⚠️ Only for Aluminum & Titanium
  • ⚠️ Higher cost for Type III

Powder Coating

Powder Coated Part

Polymer powder coating cured at high temperature. Provides strong protection and color options.

  • ✅ Wear & corrosion resistant
  • ✅ Wide range of colors
  • ⚠️ Less dimensional control
  • ⚠️ Not ideal for small parts

Rules of Thumb

  • Use As Machined for high tolerance, functional parts
  • Use Bead Blasting for matte appearance
  • Use Anodizing for corrosion resistance & colors
  • Use Powder Coating for strong impact resistance
