How CNC Turning Works

In CNC turning, the workpiece rotates while cutting tools remove material from the outer or inner diameter to create the required shape.

  • Avoid unnecessarily long unsupported sections
  • Provide reasonable corner radii where possible
  • Clearly specify critical diameters and tolerances
  • Identify thread standards and thread lengths
  • Avoid deep internal features without tool access
  • Specify surface finish only where function requires it
