Is the functional datum axis clearly identified?
Are bearing, seal and coupling fits specified?
Is circular or total runout required?
Are surface roughness values limited to necessary areas?
Are hardness, heat treatment and coating requirements shown?
Are chamfers, radii, undercuts and edge conditions defined?
Use feature-specific tolerances.
Bearing seats, seal areas, threads and non-functional diameters usually do not need identical controls. Clear functional requirements help avoid unnecessary machining cost.
