Drawing-Based Metal Stamping Manufacturing
Precision Stamped Parts for Automotive and Aerospace Equipment

Hongming Sheng manufactures custom stamped brackets, clips, contacts, shields, covers, supports, and formed components according to customer drawings.

For automotive and aerospace-related projects, the right production route depends on material, thickness, geometry, critical features, annual demand, documentation, and the customer's qualification requirements—not the industry name alone.

One Stamping Process, Different Project Priorities

Automotive and aerospace equipment can use similar stamped forms, but sourcing and approval priorities may differ. Defining these requirements before tooling begins helps align the part, process, inspection plan, and quotation.

Review Area Automotive Programs Aerospace-Related Programs
Volume Strategy Annual demand, cycle efficiency, progressive tooling, service parts, and scheduled releases may drive the route. Lower or variable demand may favor flexible tooling, controlled batches, and clearer revision management.
Critical Features Assembly interfaces, hole position, springback, flatness, coating, and repeatability are common review points. Datums, edge condition, burr direction, material orientation, surface protection, and traceability may need added attention.
Approval Records Confirm whether sample approval, control plan, capability data, PPAP-related documents, or inspection records are required. Confirm whether first-article data, material certificates, lot records, or customer-specific forms are required.
Change Control Part revision, tool maintenance, approved material, and finish specifications should remain aligned across repeat runs. Drawing revision, approved source requirements, deviations, and documentation scope should be clarified before production.
Certification boundary: This page describes manufacturing capability for automotive and aerospace-related equipment. It does not represent AS9100, IATF 16949, flight-part approval, or product certification. Any required standard, special process approval, inspection document, or customer qualification must be stated in the RFQ and confirmed in the quotation and purchase order.

Stamping Routes Selected from Part Geometry and Volume

Our custom metal stamping services can combine cutting, forming, and secondary operations according to the approved drawing.

Progressive Die Stamping

Multiple cutting and forming stations for repeat parts where quantity supports dedicated tooling.

Compound / Stage Tooling

Separate or combined operations for parts needing a different balance of tooling cost and output.

Deep Drawing

Drawn shells, cups, covers, and formed bodies where material flow and draw sequence require review.

Blanking & Forming

Brackets, plates, clips, shields, contacts, tabs, ribs, bends, and other drawing-defined features.

Supported Materials

  • Stainless steel
  • Carbon steel and coated steel
  • Aluminum alloys
  • Copper and brass
  • Customer-specified metals subject to review

Possible Secondary Operations

  • Deburring, tapping, reaming, and machining
  • Riveting, hardware insertion, and assembly
  • Welding or brazing where specified
  • Plating, anodizing, passivation, and coating
  • Heat treatment through an agreed process route

From Drawing Review to Controlled Repeat Production

STAGE 01 Requirement Review Check revision, material, quantity, critical features, finish, and document scope.
STAGE 02 Tooling Plan Review strip layout, forming sequence, material flow, springback, part removal, and tool access.
STAGE 03 Tryout & Sample Measure trial parts, adjust the tool where needed, and submit samples under the agreed approval route.
STAGE 04 Production Control Monitor material, setup, critical dimensions, burr condition, formed features, and defined checkpoints.
STAGE 05 Final Review Complete specified inspection, finishing, documentation, identification, and packing before shipment.

Typical Engineering Review: Formed Equipment Bracket

The following is a representative review example, not a claim about a named customer or a certified flight or safety-critical part.

Input Drawing & Program Data

A formed bracket drawing defines material, thickness, mounting holes, two bends, a reinforced rib, coating, and expected annual quantity.

Review Manufacturing Risks

The team reviews hole-to-bend distance, bend direction, springback, rib sequence, datum access, coating allowance, and how the part will be checked.

Output Defined Production Route

The quotation records the proposed tooling route, sample stage, critical inspection points, secondary finish, documents, and assumptions requiring approval.

Quality Planning Starts with the Drawing

Material Grade, thickness, temper, coating, grain direction, and certificate requirement where specified.
Dimensions Datums, hole location, profile, bend angle, formed height, flatness, and defined fits.
Edges Burr direction, sharp-edge limits, cut condition, and deburring requirements.
Surface Cosmetic face, scratches, forming marks, coating, plating, and protected areas.
Assembly Features Threads, inserts, studs, welds, mating points, and hardware orientation.
Identification Part number, revision, lot reference, packing label, and other agreed traceability details.

Material Selection Should Follow the Application

Material Family Common Reasons for Selection Items to Confirm
Stainless Steel Corrosion resistance, strength, appearance, or environmental exposure. Grade, temper, springback, surface direction, passivation, and forming marks.
Carbon / Coated Steel Structural performance, cost efficiency, weldability, and coating compatibility. Grade, coating, rust protection, edge exposure, welding, and final paint system.
Aluminum Low mass, corrosion resistance, conductivity, or anodized appearance. Alloy, temper, bend radius, cracking risk, surface protection, and finish.
Copper / Brass Electrical conductivity, thermal performance, contact function, or appearance. Alloy, hardness, grain direction, plating, oxidation protection, and handling.

Documentation Must Be Defined Before Quotation

Different customers use different approval systems. Please identify required documents in the RFQ so their preparation, inspection effort, and cost can be included.

Drawing & Revision Control Part number, revision, approved deviations, and latest manufacturing file.
Material Documentation Certificate, specification, heat or lot reference, and any approved-source condition if required.
Inspection Records Sample report, dimensional report, first-article format, capability data, or customer form as agreed.
Special Process Records Finish, heat treatment, welding, or other supplier documentation only where specified and accepted.
Part Identification Labels, lot reference, revision, packaging marks, or direct marking where drawing-defined.
Retention & Change Notice Record-retention period and notification expectations should be stated in the purchase requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you support prototypes before production tooling?

Depending on geometry, sample parts may be produced using soft tooling, simple tooling, laser-cut blanks with forming, or the intended production tool. The sample route should be agreed because it may not reproduce every feature of the final high-volume process.

How do you choose between progressive and stage tooling?

Part geometry, material, thickness, annual volume, tolerance, change risk, and target cost are reviewed together. The most suitable route is proposed during quotation.

Do you manufacture certified aerospace flight parts?

No blanket certification claim is made on this page. Send the part classification, standard, customer approval rules, and documentation requirements so we can confirm whether the project fits our available manufacturing and supplier scope.

Can material certificates and inspection reports be supplied?

They can be reviewed as project requirements. The exact certificate source, report format, sampling level, traceability, and retention needs should be stated before quotation.

How are repeat orders protected from drawing changes?

Each repeat order should reference the current part number and revision. Changes to geometry, material, finish, or critical requirements may require renewed tooling and process review.

Have an Automotive or Aerospace-Related Stamping Project?

Send your drawing, material, thickness, quantity, critical features, finish, documentation needs, and intended application. Our team can review the stamping route and clarify technical assumptions before quotation.

Customer drawings, CAD files, samples, tooling information, and project specifications are treated as confidential. NDA support is available for OEM projects.
