Hongming Sheng manufactures custom CNC metal and engineering-plastic parts from customer drawings and 3D models. Instead of treating every dimension the same, our review focuses on functional datums, critical tolerances, tool access, setups, material behavior, surface finish and inspection needs.
Support is available from one-piece prototypes and design validation through repeat production after the process is approved.

A useful CNC quotation depends on more than overall part size. These four groups usually determine the machining route, setup plan, inspection method and realistic cost.
Functional datums, mating features, geometric tolerances, threads and inspection references.
Deep pockets, internal radii, undercuts, thin walls, reach and the number of orientations required.
Alloy, temper, hardness, stock form, heat treatment and the stability needed after machining.
Anodizing, plating, polishing, blasting, coating, masking, appearance zones and post-finish dimensions.
Typical projects include housings, connectors, shafts, brackets, heat-management parts, fixtures and close-tolerance mechanical components. The images below are manufacturing examples; every new part is reviewed against its own drawing.
Project images demonstrate manufacturing scope and do not indicate that the same tolerance or finish applies to every geometry.
| Process | Typical applications | Important quotation inputs |
|---|---|---|
| 3-Axis Milling | Plates, brackets, covers, pockets, hole patterns and accessible prismatic features. | Part orientation, pocket depth, minimum radius, flatness and critical hole relationships. |
| 4 / 5-Axis Milling | Multi-face parts, angled features and complex components that benefit from fewer setups. | Accessible surfaces, tool clearance, datum strategy and features requiring simultaneous motion. |
| CNC Turning | Shafts, sleeves, bushings, connectors, threaded parts and other rotational components. | Concentricity, runout, thread standard, wall thickness, length-to-diameter ratio and stock form. |
| Drilling & Threading | Tapped holes, counterbores, reamed holes, inserts and assembly features. | Thread specification, depth, engagement, insert type and inspection method. |
| Finishing & Assembly | Anodizing, plating, blasting, polishing, powder coating, marking and selected assembly work. | Finish standard, color, cosmetic zones, masking, post-finish tolerance and mating parts. |
Tolerances around ±0.01 mm may be achievable on appropriate dimensions, materials and geometries when the datum scheme, machining sequence, environment and inspection method are agreed. The requirement should be identified on the drawing rather than applied automatically to the entire part.
Geometric tolerances such as flatness, perpendicularity, concentricity, position and runout may require a different control method from a simple linear dimension.
Mark critical-to-function features, define datums, state whether dimensions apply before or after finishing, and identify the required inspection equipment or report format.
Common engineering grades such as 6061, 6063 and 7075 when specified for structure, housings or high-strength parts.
Grades including 304 and 316 for corrosion-resistant mechanical components and equipment parts.
Mechanical parts requiring strength, wear performance, heat treatment or protective finishing.
Conductive, thermal and precision components with alloy and surface requirements confirmed by drawing.
Specialized lightweight and corrosion-resistant parts where tooling, heat and cost require careful planning.
POM, ABS and other specified plastics for insulators, guides, housings and functional prototypes.
A 3D model, dimensioned sketch, sample or clear photos can begin a feasibility discussion. Critical dimensions, material and acceptance requirements must be confirmed before production.
Confidentiality: Customer drawings, CAD files, samples and manufacturing data are treated as confidential. NDA support is available.

Machining method, achievable tolerance, lead time and inspection plan depend on the final drawing, material, geometry, finish, quantity and acceptance requirements.
